Sterling silver cross pendant Trinity Cross by Charles Sherman
The Trinity Cross
Sterling silver pendant
2011
The design of this sterling silver cross is inspired by the Holy Trinity and expresses it from every angle. The spiritual message embodied in the Trinity Cross is belief in the love and compassion of Christâs atonement and His promise of Eternal Life.
The Trinity Cross solid silver pendant is made by the lost wax method, and is hand cast and hand polished. The design's first incarnation was in clay in 2011 when I made a free-standing ceramic sculpture with a copper and iron oxide patina.
I then I transformed the design into fine jewelry using the lost wax method. I won First Place in the category of Inspirational Jewelry Design for the Trinity Cross design at the prestigious JCK Jewelers' Choice Awards international design competition in 2012.
The sacred geometry of the Trinity Cross visually represents the pointing to and meeting of two directions: God's divine love for humanity and humanity's love for God.
The front view is a triangle that is wide at the bottom and thin at the top; the side view is a triangle that is thin at the bottom and wide at the top. But, although the Trinity Cross appears simple and geometric, it is actually organic. Two integrated forms made up of eight triangles that include subtle curvature in their planar surfaces create the unique, harmonious Trinity Cross design.
Letter from the Vatican
Pope Francis has acknowledged the unique commemorative Trinity Cross that designer Charles Sherman created for him. A copy of the Vatican letter comes with every order.
